Affiliate Disclosure

This page sets out, in plain words, how this site earns its keep. The 37 free walking tours listed here are run by independent local guides, and every one of them is published on GuruWalk or freetour.com. A reservation is made on the guide's own page on one of those platforms, never here. What follows explains the single revenue stream, and what it does not touch.

How This Site Earns

There is one income stream: affiliate commission on the walking tours. A visitor who arrives from a link here and reserves a free spot on a guide's GuruWalk page, or on a freetour.com walk, triggers a payment from that platform to this site. The walker pays nothing extra for it. Every walk in the directory is free, pay what you want, and the tip goes to the guide at the end.

That commission is the only income. No guide has paid for a place in the directory, no operator sponsors a page, and no walk is ranked for money. A tour appears because it is listed on GuruWalk or freetour.com and can be reserved there. Links to no other booking platform appear anywhere on this site.

No booking fee, service charge or subscription exists here. Claiming a place on a walk means reserving a free spot on GuruWalk or freetour.com, and the walk itself is free, pay what you want. Any commission owed is paid by the platform to this site. The walker's tip is untouched by it.

What Visitors Pay, And What They Never Do

This site operates no tour, employs no guide and takes no payment from walkers. Each walk belongs to an independent local guide listed on GuruWalk or freetour.com, and reserving a place costs nothing up front, with the tip decided at the end by the walker. If a reservation follows a link from here, the platform may pay this site a commission. The price of the walk does not change, because free, pay what you want is the price.

The same honesty governs the rest of the site. A free-entry claim is printed only where the operator itself states one, and the condition always travels with it: the Reichstag dome is free but requires advance registration, the Neue Nationalgalerie's free first-Thursday evening runs from 4 pm to 8 pm, and the Hohenschönhausen exhibitions are free while the former Stasi prison is a EUR 9 guided tour. Ticketed attractions are named as ticketed. Nothing is dressed up as free to win a click.

What No Payment Can Change

How The Numbers Are Sourced

Every score printed here belongs to the platform that collected it, not to this site. GuruWalk listings rate out of 5, freetour.com listings rate out of 10, and one scale is never converted into the other. So the Historical Centre walk by Culture and Touring Tours Berlin appears as 9.4 out of 10 across 7,157 freetour.com reviews, while Alexis's Rise And Fall Of Nazism walk reads 4.91 out of 5 across 1,763 GuruWalk reviews, each with its scale named.

No single rule governs free entry in Berlin, so nothing here gets rounded into one. Each institution is stated on its own terms: the Topography of Terror charges no admission, the Reichstag dome is free but requires advance registration and has closure dates, the Jewish Museum Berlin keeps its core exhibition free while temporary exhibitions in the Old Building are EUR 10, and the Humboldt Forum's five named areas are free while its exhibitions are EUR 9. Where a sight is ticketed, the page says so plainly.

Nothing Here Depends On This Site

Everything described on these pages can be enjoyed without them. Tiergarten is free to walk through, the Brandenburg Gate stands in the open for anyone, the Holocaust memorial field asks nothing of visitors, and the grounds and documentation centres of the Berlin Wall Memorial take no ticket. This site maps and describes such places. It plays no part in running them.

The walks work the same way. All 37 free walking tours listed here are reserved on GuruWalk or freetour.com, and anyone can claim a spot there without ever opening this site. If every link on these pages vanished, the guides would still meet their groups at Pariser Platz and the Rotes Rathaus, the Reichstag dome would still open to registered visitors, and the Tränenpalast would still cost nothing to enter. This site is a signpost, not a stop.
